About
Product Designer Ceramicist Glasgow
Designer and ceramicist. I work across physical and digital — not because I can't choose, but because both are part of how I think.

Practice
Designer and ceramicist based in Glasgow. I trained in product design and ceramics at Gray's in Aberdeen and the two have never really separated — the thinking is the same, the materials are just different.
I grew up between two cultures and I think that comes through naturally in the work. My ceramics uses multanni mitti — a Pakistani clay from the plains of Multan — alongside British stoneware. The two clays behave completely differently at high temperature. That's the interesting part. It's not a concept, it's just what happens when you fire them together.
Background
I studied Three Dimensional Design — Product and Ceramics — at RGU in Aberdeen. In my final year I set up a Raku Club at the university. Organised the firings, sourced materials, got people along. It became an official society. It's still going, which is good.
After graduating I did a Graduate in Residence at Gray's School of Art. Spent the year mentoring students in Rhino and KeyShot, developing my own ceramics practice, and eventually curated Crafted by Design — a group show at The Courtyard Artspace in Aberdeen with eleven makers from the school. Good way to end that chapter.
Taught myself web development, brand design, and digital work by taking on real clients and figuring it out as I went. Set up SCM Design Studio in 2024. Websites, identities, signage, UI — mostly Scottish clients, all paid work.
My ceramics practice runs alongside everything else under SH27 Design. Working in multanni mitti — traditionally used in skincare across Pakistan, I started testing it in ceramics during the residency — alongside British stoneware. The xp gain has been real. Work has been shown at the Scottish Ceramics Gallery and in exhibitions in Aberdeen and Renfrewshire.
